What is Liturgy?

Liturgy refers to the structured order of worship that guides our congregation as we come together to glorify God. Rooted in Scripture and shaped by centuries of Christian tradition, liturgy is not merely routine or ritual but a dialogical (think conversational) rhythm of God speaking (through the minister) and God’s people responding (as the congregation offers prayer, praise, confession, and thanksgiving that reflects the gospel). Liturgy is instructive in shaping how we approach God in worship, fostering reverence, unity, and a deep sense of His presence among us as we seek to glorify Him together.

Morning Worship (10:15 am)

  • God calls us to Worship (Call to Worship)
  • God greets us with “Grace and Peace” (often called the Apostolic Greeting)
  • The church calls upon the name of the YHWH (Invocation)
  • The church sings God’s praise (First Hymn or Psalm)
  • God declares His standard of Righteousness
  • The church Confesses her Sins (Confession)
  • God declares His Forgiveness of Sin in Christ Jesus (Assurance of Pardon)
  • The church responds with thanksgiving (second hymn/psalm)
  • The church confesses the faith once delivered (Creed) and glorifies God by singing (the Gloria Patri)
  • The church casts her cares upon the LORD (Pastoral Prayer)
  • God speaks through the Reading of Sermon text
  • The church asks for the Spirit’s guidance (Prayer for Illumination)
  • God speaks through the preaching of His Word (Sermon)
  • The Lord Seals His Covenant to the Church (The Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper)
  • The church gives thanks and prepares to follow God during the week (third hymn/psalm)
  • The church responds with cheerful giving (Tithes and Offerings)
